Web Application Firewall (WAF)

WAF is a web application protection system that monitors and filters HTTP traffic between the application and the internet. It protects business-critical web applications from attacks targeting known and unknown security vulnerabilities.

The WAF solution:

  • protect the web application from attacks, including DoS attacks
  • ensures the security of protocols
  • controls access to back-end servers
  • scans for vulnerabilities
  • allows security policies and profiles to be built

The Web Application Firewall can be deployed as a separate hardware device or as a plug-in on a web server.

Response to the challenge

Provide protection against attacks such as SQL Injection, cross-site scripting, Directory Traversal, and Command Injection, for example, which can result in data leaks, website substitution, identity theft, the placement of phishing sites, or the sending of spam via scripts.
